So today, after doing a couple hours of work, I decided to go run some stuff on the layout.

It's a simple affair, a door, with a kidney shaped mainline, and a yard on the one side, but watching a pair of MP15s with some coal cars was quite nice.

Sure, it wasn't perfect, but you know what? After watching these, it just looked right.

Agreed.  After all the cutting and grinding to get a decoder burrowed into a locomotive, after all the scouring of websites to find out what the right horn would be, after all the fussing about foliage, ground cover and which weed makes the best tree...

The payoff is rolling out onto the main to run some laps...  I'll move the chair around to watch from different angles, maybe dim the room lights to a dusky glow, throw some vinyl on the record player, and  enjoy the show.
