Source for IN STOCK Tippi Foam Cutter?

Scenery Express has informed me that the Tippi has been, at the very least, temporarily discontinued due to the supplier being unable to source necessary parts for its construction.

Does anyone know someone that has one of these actually in stock?  And/or could anyone suggest a comparably alternative?  I've read nothing but poor reviews when looking at the Woodland Scenics version compared to the Tippi.

How about www.bigcityhobbies.com/ ?

Not that I am familiar with them, but they came up in a search.

You might also look for the Dept 56 foam cutter. It looks just like the Tippi except it has a black handle. Comes w/the four blades and all that. Dept 56 is a company that does Christmas Buildings and such. Since stores consider it a seasonal item, they've been found for 50%+ off.

Take a look at this company's products:

I have one of their $30 starter kits (http://hotwirefoamfactory.com/product.php?productid=16133&cat=3&page=1) and it works pretty well. I used it to carve the foam cores for my bridge:

They also have more conventional hot-knife-style (rigid wire) cutters.

Hm.

Scenic Express has had a "Tippi-II" exactly as you describe with a new handle and a little toolbox listed on its site for several months at the very least.

They weren't showing it as a "Pre-Order" of any sort, but it is the one I tried to buy and they told me was out of stock and what prompted me to start this thread.

Yeah, sounds like they jumped the gun.  The guy sounded really hopeful they would be out in March...
