Atlas Dash8-40C............"Tap Dancing"

Not even close. Smoothest performing Atlas 6 axle truck that I've ever owned.

I know that I've had my opinion, shared by some, and shunned by some, about the "tap dancing" with SD50/60 trucks.

I was also concerned that the same geartower assy would be used on the 8-40C's, and was told that they would be different. I was hopefull, but still concerned.

I bought one NS painted unit to test for myself, and after a couple of hours of running time, I'm a believer, and just love this Atlas loco in every respect.

Outstanding paint/details/graphics that Atlas has been noted for, and the performance of the engine, and the smoothness of these trucks, put it "on par" with any of my Kato's.

My wallet will "vote" for this loco several times again, and "hats off" to Atlas for an outstanding job on these. This could be the "best" loco that Atlas has ever produced IMO.

And.................this unit seems to "mu" almost perfectly with the Atlas Dash8-40B's that I have. If it was "planned" that way, what a sweet deal!

A "western modeler" that also runs NS.
