Anyone have experience with the white elephant table, or whatever they call it, @ Timonium? I got 2 L&N SD35s, a couple BNSF SD70MACs, and a handful of undec 8-40Bs I want to rid myself of. Do N scalers actually buy from it? Do you really need to lowball the pricing (these are never-run locos)?

I've never used the White  Elephant service, but I see from the web site that you can rent half a dealer table for $25.  I have half a dozen boxes of HO stuff I'd like to clear out (a fair bit of it practically new) and I was toying with the idea of becoming dealer for a day. Any opinions on this?

I took some stuff there a number of years ago.  Your best bet is to expect to lose money, price your item accordingly, or plan to take it home with you.  As fierce as the deal making at the regular vendors can be, the WET attracts the real bottom feeders.  About the only thing that gets close to market price would be brass.

I did manage to sell what I brought, though, and it was fun spending the money immediately. :D

I've perused it each time I've gone to Timonium. Not only are the bottom feeders lurking around, but most of the stuff there is junk! Your good stuff will be overwhelmed by the junk. If I ever see that one collection of GN BSB Model Power and LifeLike junk cars (not a shot at the BSB as I personally like it), I'll literally vomit. Its marketed as a once in a lifetime opportunity and the price they ask is a joke.

You will do better on here or on Ebay.

I had no freakin' idea there was a sales forum on the site. Who'd like to deliver the dope slap? Get 'em while they're hot, kids!
