Walthers: Why create a "foobie" when you didn't have to ?

  Fluting could have been removed by CN as other roads SP, C&O etc. removed the fluting from their cars because moisture was trapped under the decorative fluting which (unlike Budd cars) was added to smooth car sides causing the sides underneath to rust. Correct me if I'am wrong but didn't N&W also have several of these ten and sixes for pool use with PRR. I just answered my own question on page 158 of the Book "More Classic Trains" by Arthur Duban we get photos, Richmond Fredrickburg & Potomac 10-6 car "King William" and N&W car "Mc Dowell County". The chapter is titled "A TWIST ON TUSCAN RED."Three L&N cars also named for rivers also were identical Tuscan smooth side cars Don't forget the small "PULLMAN" lettering on letterboards near car ends. Did the Walthers decals include this? My microscale sheets did. Nate Goodman (Nato).

N&W had Budd 10-6 smoothside (20 of them? I need to check this) not for PRR pool use though.

The three county cars (Pullman plan 4140 mentioned in my previous post in this thread) were for PRR pool use on the "New York" train which ran on the Shenandoah Valley line (and the pokey!) - between Williamson WV and New York NY.
