Let me tell you a story about an incompetent General Superintendent and a moronic Master Mechanic of a certain short line railroad that expropriated a retired Fairmont track speeder from the Maintainence of Way Department. It was lovingly  restored with leather seating, horns, etc., and painted in the yellow with blue stripes like the three new locomotives.

The maiden run was around the wye by the enginehouse. The local switch engine was on the same leg of the wye running in the opposite direction. Fortunately the GS and MM suffered only torn clothing and acute embarassment when they "joined the birds".

So you'd better be sure nothing else is running within 100 miles if you sally forth to your "little used spur by a mountain lake".  ;D ;D ;D
