Chuck, Yuma, AZ, sure beats the devil of of Northern Indiana. I lived for 20 months in Fort Wayne. Nice city, but those months slipping on the same patch of ice...seriously, we went over a month where the temperature never got above freezing any part of the day. I had a company car, a Diesel Rabbit from the Erie Western.  If you didn't add high test gas to the tank before the temperature got to 5 degrees F, it would not run.

My parents retired to Lake Havasu City. Don't believe that "it's a dry heat" bushwa!  ;D ;D ;D

Yeah heard that the it's lake effect snow and the average is 81" of snow every winter. I was confused by the railroads too, Grand Trunk Western is now what? - I thought this was an old NYC line from NY to Chicago now ?

The Grand Trunk is now part of CN, The ex-NYC Chicago Line is now NS. And you have the South Shore. Lotsa cool railroading.

I'll take 81" inches of snow over the desert anytime.
