  Irecieved my 2007-08 Buyer's Guide # 2 in the mail from Walthers included was a 2nd copy of the September 2007 catalog.I just knew the guide was going to favor HO and not N and I was righht there. Then I saw it "New" at the top of page 14 a Beautiful ready to run plastic Milwaukee Road Rib-Side Caboose,available as a two pack in three different era schemes. Oh! Waa and Double Wahhh,it makes this N scale closet MLW fan want to break down and cry. No I never purchased any of the N Scale brass Rib -Side Cabeese from several years back. Again my complaint why won't Walthers do it in N. Oh well maybe they will get around to it some day,but certainly not in my life time. I guess it's time to get out my thin brass wire and glue 5 rib's to the side of my Con Cor Milwaukee caboose and paint them orange.  Ntae Goodman (Nato). Salt Lake, Utah.

It seems that only Atlas and Bowser are interested in making any cabooses other than the run-of-the-mill bay windows and Santa Fe's for N scale.  Don't hold your breath for Walthers to even re-run an upgraded version of the old Lifelike NE caboose.  They don't care, they don't have to... they're Walthers!

Excellent reference to the old Lily Tomline phone company bit!  Anyway, I have a bunch of those LL cabooses that I'm detailing per the LV prototypes.  First and foremost for me is to tame those freakin HUGE rivets.  Other than that "feature", these little cars have a lot of potential.

I've got a raft of these myself.  Yeah, the rivets are ginormous, but they do okay once you lower them, add body mount couplers and a little Micro Crystal Clear.  Not brass, but for about $6 a throw, I can live with that.

Here's a Reading one with similiar treatment. I had a magazine article about half done on these (at least all the step-by-step photos) and just ran out of time to finish it. There was a guy (jym?) on Atlas a few years back who really went all out on one of these, did a LNE version with scratchbuilt ends, flush mounted glass, the works. Really awesome model.

I have 3 dozen of these gems back when Life-Like blew them out at 2 bucks apiece. Right now I have about 10 sitting at the paint shop awaiting LV style steps. They really aren't a bad model at all.

Of course, once I actually get around to making a mold and casting them, that'll be when someone announces a RTR version

   Yes, the old NE Cabeese were probably the nicest gems when they first came out. I have a bunch of them that I have not yet upgraded including a Leighi & New England to go with Alco FA's that I have ,even a PRR one before accurate plastic PRR cars from Bowser became available. The nicest looking one I have is in LV schemeal though I also have WM for my BL2's, RDG for my green & yellow Atlas GP what ever they are (can't remember) and a Conrail. I would really like to paint one into NYC Pacemaker scheme to match the incorrect Marx Tinplate semi scale model of an NE Cab in that scheme that I have saved from my youth. And you thought I was interested only in Western Roads and a closet MLW or PRR Fanzee. Nate Goodman (Nato).
