Looking good.  Those horns sure sounded good at night running the Lurgan Line.  Sounded better then the PRR single horn "Blat" sound.  You could always tell the difference.  Wonder why the WM never painted any of their RS's in the circus colors?

I'm just starting a personal fact.  I model the Mighty Pennsy with a little Reading and WM thrown in.  Their horns just didn't have a good quality sound.  Fact it, when it came to these things they were somewhat of a cheapskate.  Just finsihed "Set Up Running" and it mentions that their steam whistles also had a terrible sound to them (with the exception of some passenger locos).

Bob Bufkin's correct, PRR used a "banshee" or "peanut" whistle, similar to a British or European single-note whistle on its freight locomotives, while passenger power was equipped with "steamboat" chime whistles. The idea was to tell how fast the approaching train was moving. By the 1950's, when earlier passenger power was scrapped, the chime whistles from the scrapped locomotives started appearing on freight power like the I1s "hippos".

IIRC, the same was done with the first Diesels acquired - different horns for passenger and freight locomotives.

Not that it's not a good job or anything... but one thing you can try to get better lines is to shoot the base color, mask, and then shoot the base color again over the tape, angling the shell so the paint gets the tape edge

Realizing that if you aren't using _thin_ tape, or are heavy with with the paint, you run the risk of more prominent ridges at the seperation line.

FYI, the black is the factory paint from the L&N scheme, I masked that with scotch celophane tape, which worked marginally well.  I may go back with some black stripe decal to sharpen up the line under the grilles. 

I then painted the entire lower part of the body flat white to get the white band as well as to prime for the red.  The letter boards and nose herald were masked by photocopying the decals onto Avery labels, trimming them to the appropriate size, and placing them.  The rest was masked with blue tape.

I believe I would have gotten cleaner lines if I had followed Rob's advice.  Were it not for the scarcity of the decals, (old NorthEast sets) would probably strip and re-do.

I will be getting 'real' grabs, though.  My colored wire experiment didn't work out the way I'd like.
