Depending on the part/model, they can become junk yard fill, background models, or parts for other projects.
I use the "seconds" for testing and practice painting/weathering and have given a bunch of T-scale stuff away that were good but not great prints. 
It's funny that when you don't care at all about a model the weathering is a lot easier to do!  In any event the practice helps.
