I bought a Proto 1000 GP15-1 in HO off ebay to match the ones I have in N and O. The listing says it had sound and indeed it looks like it does. Does anyone know what board this is? The poor soldering makes me think it is MRC, but I don't have my DCC equipment out to test it.

While I am not familiar with larger scale locos that gray epoxy blob on that decoder (it is actually a COB) does have MRC flavor. They do the same thing on N scale decoders and I have not seen any other brand decoders using that chip mounting technique.
