ME Code 40 now available????

I picked up a bundle of the new code 40 at the Springfield show(they had plenty of it), they also have a new website they were launching

For Code 40 flex track, only the "weathered" version seems to be listed, so far.  And only weathered rail in Code 40, too.  No Code 40 turnouts, (yet?).

I picked up a bundle of not-weathered flex, they had plenty of them. I doubt they will make code 40 turnouts anytime soon, since that would be an all new product, they seem to focused on getting the old catalog back on the market.

They posted earlier this month on FB this: "Currently, we have plans for a #8 N scale code 55 turnout in the pipeline."

Me thinks Code 40 might be a long wait.

This was posted earlier today in regards to Code 55 concrete ties.

At this time, we have decided to push back the N-55 Concrete Flex lines reintroduction back. We have encountered consistency and gauge issues in our most recent batch that has led us to this decision. We have spent the last few months going through a few rounds of repairs on the tooling as we try to reintroduce the product line. The damage may require a complete rebuild of the lower mold, causing our gauge issues. We don't have a firm timeline when these issues will be resolved, but will make an announcement both here and on the site when we know more. We would rather take the time to correct this issue, than to produce an inferior product line. Any retail customer who currently has the product ordered has been reached out to and we will do what we can to resolve the issue. We appreciate your patience and understanding. If there is any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out.

I went to the new Micro Engineering website and got hooked into spending an hour or so looking at what's available now and what I might need to order. 

They've got pretty good photos of most of their products...nice close-ups although taken from the top down instead of a nice three-quarter view.

Contrary to what's been posted here, I could only find Code40 N-scale flex in unweathered, with no photo or mention of weathered...which is okay with me since I don't use weathered track.

A good stock of Code40 and Code55 rail also in 17 piece bundles...

AND...

...#6 Code55 N scale turnouts!!  In stock...but at over 40 bucks a whack!  OW!  Good thing I make my own...for less than a buck each (since I bought all of the components in bulk about 30 years ago)  but, they ARE available again, which is a good thing.

I was surprised at all the stuff they make.  Since I don't model in HO, HOn3, S, O, G or #1, the breadth of their product line is pretty generous, and I was only looking at what is now available, not their entire line.

I think it's looking good for ME.  I know I'll be buying a few things from them, although from stores not directly from ME.

I see the price of a bundle of non-weathered rail in any size has jumped dramatically.

$110 for a bundle of Code 70 is a pretty steep increase since the last time I bought some!

I think they've got smaller bundles for much less.  The weathered Code40 comes in a 17 piece bundle for $65, and although it may not be currently available, I'm pretty sure the other rails sizes will come in the 17 piece bundle also...at around the same, much lower price.

That would have been welcomed years ago, but I'm more inclined now to building a better turnout with FastTracks than I am fussing and fiddling with sharpening the blunt ends of the points and adding jumpers between points and stock rails.

I plan to to revert to my roots and handlay my track like I did when I was a teen (1970s c40). Back then I got my goods from RailCraft.

Will likely use flex though, so I am hoping that the ME unweathered flex and rail (c40 & c55) will be readily available when I get to it later this year.

Maybe, but the prices I listed are for the "standard" 33 piece bundle, which is the quantity that they've always sold it in (except for Code 40, which is 17pc bundles). 

I get it though...  The price of everything has gone up.  Especially copper based alloys like Nickel Silver.  I remember when the last owners of NWSL took over from the first owners.  The price of the solid Nickel Silver wheelsets nearly doubled.

Weird, I just looked at the Micro Engineering site again, using the same link in the post here, and now it says "unweathered" and 18' bundles (6 x 3').  When I first checked it, I am pretty sure it said "weathered" and 30' bundles (10 x 3').  And yes, I clicked on Code 40 both times.

I remember buying all of my track in bundles of six 3-foot pieces, but that was anywhere from 30 to 50 years ago.

I probably would have bought 17, or 33, piece bundles at the time, if they'd had them.
