Annoying slide in ads.
« on: November 17, 2025, 12:34:12 AM »
Hey guys,
[Grumpy old man rant]
I know that we need the ads to stay open, But is there any way to tell the company that does the ads to ***** off with the ones that slide in from the bottom on PC, and slide in from the top, blocking 7/8 of the page on Mobile? It's beyond obnoxious. I know they can be minimized by clicking the arrow, its still obnoxious.

Also, I wish there was a way to tell the advertisers on those slide in ads that, I will never buy one of the products they advertise, because I'm so annoyed with these ads. Annoying you potential customer base isn't the way to get them to buy your *****.

@tom mann , if you can take a break from your pen pal, can you see if you can adjust the Google Ads settings?

I'll second this request.  I don't might the normal ads at the bottom of the page, but the ones that slide up into the page are really annoying.  They started out as small ads that only occasionally showed up; now they are large ads and can pop up multiple times while reading the same page, at least on my system.

I get the same thing from the bottom on iPads. It is very annoying. Safari in particular. DuckDuckGo blocks it fine.

And on top of the annoying presentation, they are often quite weird.  Like the one appearing as I type this says "Monica Lewinisky, 52, wears probably the smallest bikini in the world".  WTF??

OK; I seem to have gotten rid of this by putting Firefox on "strict" rather than "standard" security settings.  I temporarily had the latter setting to allow me to access the WebMD questionaire site required by my wife's health insurance (which I as a retired person, use).

This exact type of adds (along with ones touting Amish women baring it all and other sexual subjects) are constantly showing up on Model Cars Magazine forum.  According to their admins, Google is the culprit.
