Soundtraxx TSU-1100 Steam CV question ?
« on: November 30, 2025, 11:51:05 AM »

I been installing the TSU-1100 and earlier 750 and ECO decoders but this time I'm having trouble calling up some auto sounds.     To get the whistle to go auto at start and stop used to be set CV31 at 1 and 32 at 2 and then CV 407 at 1, 408 at 2 and 409 at 12 and this would sound off the whistle twice to start and once at stopping.  Can't get it to work this time. Am I missing a new step perhaps ???

Thank you,
Keith

Got it to work but, Now when ever I put the engine in a consists of two locos the auto whistle does not work nor pressing #3 for a short whistle.

Not familiar with Soundtraxx decoders, but the CV31, 32, and 407 thing sounds like you are setting an indexed CV.  32 and 32 are likely the index and 407 is the actual CV.

Sounds more like a consist config issue, not a decoder issue. What DCC system are you using and what type of a consist is configured?

NCE.  All horns and whistles work with just one loco but as soon as I add one or two more locos the automatic horn/whistle does not work.

Can the automatic horn/whistle be disabled by one of the function keys on the throttle, or is it always enabled?

My NCE PowerCab by default uses advanced consisting (with some additional NCE features).  What if you tried to consist using the "old" style consist?  You should see an option to create the new or old type of consist.

I'll give that a shot. I been a machinist 37 years and very mechanical but , on a PC or other computer things forget about it. It's a struggle :? at times till one day when it clicks  :o

No worries.  Just something to try. I sometimes get lost  too dealing with all the DCC stuff.

You never mentioned, is the auto horn thing permanent when set, or can be turned on or off with a function key on the throttle?

It may have to do with the advanced consisting which NCE uses.
