Yesterday I posted a response to Chuck's link to a nicely done 3D printed garage. I recommended that he just scratch it .. So while it's easy to say "just do it this way", I decided to sit down this morning to "walk the walk"
The first step was to gather some materials. I used styrene sheet from a Walmart For Sale Sign for the base, Evergreen N scale siding, and a door out of the junk box, 1,2,3 blocks, Testors Glue, and a new sharp Xacto knife.

The first thing I did was transfer the rough drawing I made to the styrene

I used the scribe and snap technique to prepare the individual pieces for assembly.



I didn't have a garage door handy, so in keeping with the scratch build theme as much as possible, I used some wider styrene strip to "build up" the door.

Next, I mitered the ends of the wall pieces with sandpaper and cut some corner braces from styrene.

Using the Testors "non-toxic" glue, I built up the wall assemblies using the 1-2-3 blocks to hold them steady. You can see the "flaws" pretty clearly where I goofed up. But not to worry, just like your siding applicators, we will trim out the corners and around the edges to hide the imperfections.

Next, join the two roof pieces with glue and a bit of scotch tape to hold it together . set it on the structure to let it dry in the correct shape.

So, now with the structure basically completed, the next step is to add the trim, prime and paint. I'll use roofing material from the GaryS SSS files to finish up.

To get to this step, cost me about $1-2 and a couple of hours at the kitchen table while I had coffee and bagels
