IHC 7508 White Pass & Yukon Route 2-8-2 Mikado?

Are these well regarded, how do they compare to model power?
Flange looks bit large for code 55.
Never seen one before, nothing comes up on on Trovestar but that may be the odd name not being recognised.

Looks like it’s a Model Power unit decorated for White Pass & Yukon.

It will be out of scale, because WP&Y is a narrow gauge (914mm - or 3 foot - gauge) and the model is standard gauge.

Looks to me like an early version, judging from the type of axle pickups on the tender.

Here’s @spookshow ’s review of this model:  https://www.spookshow.net/loco/mp282.html

It's not first a first run Model Power - it has traction tires.   Going by that and the couplers I suspect it's the revised (2nd) run.
Likely to be a good runner.

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

IHC labeling notwithstanding, I agree, that is a Model Power 2-8-2, and not the first run, because it has the bronze wires on the tender axles, directly feeding up inside the tender for pickup, instead of the wiper that conducted through the head of the truck screw.  So it's slightly less awful, but it's still wipers and it still picks up only from half the wheels.  Poking around, I found more than one of these in IHC labeled boxes.
Did IHC rebrand and sell Model Power N Scale, maybe just in the UK?

Is anyone currently producing the old Model Power N scale steam?

It's a bit of an odd one.  I am good at finding things, obscurities.  That's pretty much how I have any nice N scale as it's quite niche.
A lot of trawling, patience, misspelling checks and sniper software.
Take 'N guage American train', for example.  Stuff like that.
It's simpler on the US ebay, as most sellers know what they have.

I wonder if it doesn't sell in a week he will put the price down?
This happens quite often.

If the locomotive in the box looked like the picture, I would be all over it. Although it is standard N gauge and not narrow, I would like to get one like the picture for a Durango and Silverton scenic train I am putting together. We rode that train a couple of years ago and it was awesome.

I have that locomotive. My daughter and her husband brought it back for me from the White Pass and Yukon Railroad gift shop after riding the train. For me it has been a great runner. I also think that the paint and detailing is fairly decent. I built my layout with Kato sectional track and it's never had any issues running on it. The only thing, besides not being narrow gauge to me, was the boiler backhead is moved out almost to the end of the cab. I understand that this was done because of the newer, better motor that was used in later models.
When me and the wife visited a few years ago, I was able to purchase one of the Athearn made old time passenger cars to go with it. While I used to run it from time to time, both now sit in a display case in the layout room. This thread reminds me that maybe it's time to run it again.

Looks like you used to be able to get them from the White Pass Yukon Route website, but of course they're sold out now.
