Building the same on a new project and ordered gamers static 1mm green mix, it still will be too tall. This works:

Which stock number green blend did you use?

I toggled this together.

Fine green, yellow, and dirt. Needs lighter green and browns. Needs way more work.

Ok that’s it. No more dang tugboat! Finally finished the tug for the layout. The Ropes of Scale place came through. Really, really nice product.

To make the front and side buffers I used short pieces of the rope, dipped one end in CA, held that end down and scraped the piece with the blunt side of a steel blade, pulling it away from the glued end repeatedly until all strands separated and frayed out in a fan like shape. It was actually kind of fun.

Wow!  Your tugboat is quite impressive.  Well done!  Your tugboat makes me want to resurrect my idea of building a tugboat/car ferry diorama with the subject being a Lackawanna tugboat as seen here in 1956.  When I first saw this photo, I really liked the look with the orange superstructure and the green framing on the logo on the stack.

At any rate, you did a really good job with this, and it's something that will definitely stand out on your layout.

Continuing the project to replace the flood loader with a steel model.  I managed to fry $60 worth of AzaTrax circuits trying to start loading the upper hopper while the chute is still over the rear of just-loaded coal gon.  Plan B is to daisy chain two single MRD1-V detectors - one supplying power to the other, which powers the DPDT switch - so that gon loading only happens if the gon blocks both detectors.  In the mean time I'm detailing the loader.

Given the backgroup in the first photo, I would have expected a Baldwin  :?
