Shrinking the Curved Side Interurban

I downsized my Dayton & Troy Curved Side Interurban from HO to N scale. The prototype with its characteristic bulged sides was built 1929 by the Cincinnati Car Company. Making the glass inserts was a little bit tricky. The color printed car body snaps over a Tomytec TM-TR04 drive.

Once completed, the car could make a short sunbath on a short micro-module, with suitable overgrown "doomsday" track for Depression-Era Interurban operations. Dayton & Troy Interurban collapsed in 1932, the cars were later resold to Lehigh Valley Transit.

And stunning in its execution. That you're getting that kind of resolution and color management with FDM just boggles the mind.

By the way, the striking Dayton & Troy color scheme bears stunning similarity with the later Illinois Central scheme. Probably there is no connection between both schemes, the Dayton & Troy was closed 1932 and the cars were then stored for 6 years, and the IC orange-brown livery was first applied 1942. But who knows ...
