I just discovered this site today.

https://rail.guide/

I don't know how many times I come across tracks or an old Right of Way and wonder "who was this?".

I can usually figure it out, but this makes it a LOT easier.

And they have an Android app.

Rail Guide is badass.  The fact that you can set the parameters to current owners, classic owners, or early owners is fantastic information.

Yeah. Thanks, Ed. Great resource.

Looking at historical local lines (Centralia, IL), I have a minor quibble. What they have labeled as "MP" was known here as the "Missouri-Illinois", colloquially as the "Mike and Ike." I don't know whether to "correct" it or not, as it always was a wholly-owned subsidiary of the MP. They did have "MI" reporting marks on rolling stock, and there was at least an RS-3 lettered for the line.
