Last vacation from work was surprisingly productive, despite a hefty to-do list...

Here are my last two PRR P85 coaches completed for revenue service, properly weighted down, MTL trucks and body mount couplers added, and windows with silver trim.  I now have all 6 of these up and running properly on various consists.

I completed a second modified P70 stand-in out of the Kato PRR smoothside coaches.  I now have a pair of these finished.  Curved ends of roofs were made from cut ends of MTL heavyweight coaches (roofs were replaced on those cars with balloon roofs) and puttied and sanded to fit and secured together with styrene strips under the roof.  Keystone Details P70 steps were also placed under the vestibule and I put on MTL body mount couplers as well.

I also repainted and decaled a Kato 4-4-2 sleeper to look like a NH Beach-Series 6-6-4 Sleeper, Sound Beach.  Paint was Tamiya Spray Silver Leaf and Matte Black.  Decals were a very old set from MicroScale, judging from the packaging, and they were a real pain to apply, which was frustrating at the time.  I think I will ensure that the decal sets are newer in the future before purchasing, but these were in my stack of available decals.  Sound Beach ran on Train 168/169, the Montrealer/Washingtonian, in 1955.

Last week, I received the PRR Lounge-Sleeper, Catalpa Falls, in the mail from @seusscaboose .  Thanks to him for the fantastic special run that he put together and for his family's stewardship of a piece of PRR history.  Here are a couple photos of my P5a electric (standing in as my terminal switcher) coupling Catalpa Falls to the coaches of Train 49, the General, which was her 1955 assignment.

Finally, I made up a nice, long mail-express consist with plenty of PRR-REA-PFE express equipment and a P70 rider coach with the markers.  It was nice running one of these for the first time in a while, with GG1 4859 on the point.  You can see GG1 4879 leading Train 3, the Penn-Texas, waiting for the signal on the next track over.

So close to being ‘done’!
Power poles added to the other triple of “Arbo Canyon”, along with a few bracing wires.
These are ready to debut at our T-TRAK setup in Manchester, GA for Manchester Railroad Days.
When we get back home, I’ll add some sage bushes along the creek bed slopes and these will actually be complete.

Ironically that typically means my modeling season is over in the South as I can finally go outdoors and do something for more than 5 minutes without getting heat stroke! But it was a rainy and windy week here, so plenty of time for scenery work!
