Last week and this weekend saw 3 cars roll out of the shops and into service, 2 old favorites, and a new face.
I did a fair amount of ugly hack work to lower an Aristocraft 2-bay hopper’s ride height, followed by using 3D printed lower bolsters to drop the ride height of an Aristo gondola.
Doesn’t it looks like they knew a coupler belonged here, but had to engineer the model for overly sharp curves anyway?
Glad to have these two previously weathered models equipped with Kadees and looking good!
Then an eBay win arrived, and I finally got an LGB Centerflow hopper in B&O paint! I promptly got to work also lowering the ride height, putting proper 36” wheels on it, and weathering the car. I wanted this DONE this past weekend, and actually managed to keep the project scope creep under control, and still get results I love!
Once again, just a quick weathering job… layers of spray paint and some paint pen details. I model in short bursts in between the rest of life, so airbrushes (sometimes even paint brushes!) that require cleanup just don’t work for me. But here’s hoping I can keep up the momentum and turn out more overhauled cars in the coming days!
