I always wanted to build a live steam engine but never got the chance. Same goes for IC engines in large scale locomotives. Now I have some tools to do so but not quite all the skills.
I discovered Victor Shattocks work and thought it amazing, as his focus was building
and operations!
I am looking for resources and info, if there are any well known European F scale model engineers and groups?
Otherwise have to import bits and pieces.
I have found a UK face book group but it's quite small.
Cumberland Model Engineering, Iron Creek Shops, any more?
May have to start with building a 'critter' for DC power, but that's ok.
There is huge range of options with rc gear and cnc cutting tools.
This is a low budget affair which may lead to some hobby business production.
Being in F scale opens up the possibility to cover a lot of themes:
Light standard gauge 4-4-0 or vulcan ironworks 0-4-0.
3' gauge or
2' gauge Maine,
And something I dubbed Fn15, to model British estate railways such as Sir Arthur Percival Heywood's 15'' gauge trains.
I don't know of any 15'' lines that made it to America. Maybe tourist parks?
When it comes to the model railroad itself I discovered there are module standards for 16mm scale:

Ideas and stuff. Will still do N scale, this a dream thing.
