esu programmer and windows 11 driver issues

Someone help. Im having issues with FTDI-USBD river_setup driver installing to my Windows 11 PC. I just got back to modeling N scale again, and my Lokprogrammer will not respond, nor will Wndows install this driver.
I searched everywhere on the internet to get by this issue, and I found nothing. What on earth am I doing wrong? Is there something I can do to overcome this issue?

It worked fine with old PC withe Windows 10.
Come to think of it, I think it used to work on Windows 11, about 4 years ago. That was the last time I used my Lokprogrammer.

Windows 11 was released on Oct 5, 2021, so you must have had a really fresh copy of it when you installed the FTDI driver 4 years ago.

What hardware do you have? Is it the same computer as the one you used 4 years ago?  What type of processor? Intel (x64), AMD, ARM?

What is the exact problem you see during install?  I still run my LokProgrammer on a Win 7 machine.   

An alternative might be to purchase any more recent USB->COM port adapter cable which will have new drivers compatible with Windows 11. LokProgrammer software and harsware should care about the cable brand. Any cable which will provide a virtual COM port should work.

Thank you peteski, I'm still using the same computer 4 years ago. Here's whats in my computer:  Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10400 CPU @ 2.90GHz,  2.90 GHz64-bit operating system, x64-based processor. Windows 11 Home version 24H2 I hope this helps , I'm not computer savy.

When I try to install the Lokprogrammer driver I get a message driver not compatible with your system.

I'm begining to think throughtout the past five year of windows updates something went amuck with the updated drives.

I blocked Windows from having access to my computer back in 2017.

Did try installing the driver available for download on https://www.esu.eu/en/downloads/software/lokprogrammer/ (last item on the page)? Supposedly it is compatible with Win 11.

You could also try a driver at the FTDI website.
If the computer is connected to the Internet, Windows theoretically should automatically find the driver for that device.  If not, download the drivers to your computer from https://ftdichip.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/CDM2123620_Setup.zip
Unzip that file and then as administrator run the CDM2123620_Setup.exe file.

There are also instructions on FTDI site but they are somewhat confusing especially to non-computer-savvy person.

Interesting. I bought a new Dell laptop with Windows 11 two months ago and LokProgrammer works without issue.

The FTDI drvier install manual does mention that Windows 11 is supposed to automatically install the drivers (when connected to the Internet).
