The ACFX Domino Sugar and the NW box look interesting to me - gotta look at the protos for these and decide.

The Norfolk & Western 57571 model is a reasonable stand-in at lease from the sides (the ends on the model are not even close).

The problem for me is that Athearn has done several runs of an accurate model of this series (SEICO, I have several examples), so I guess I will pass this time.

Does anyone know how long those Domino Sugar cars lasted?  Built in 1969, so 40 years would put it as 2009?  I could use one for my "Givens Sugar" industry.  I would use the WP sugar box cars, but they are extinct after the 1950s.

The newsletter says the Sudbury car is a reprint, so SBCO 102 must have been the original release.

Off hand I would give the paint at least ten years (pure guess). I checked the usual suspects (photo sites) and came up empty handed.

I like that Domino car. I could definitely see that heading up the NC from th Baltimore harbor plant.

George's report is out. No real additional info except that he did point out that the paint features a double COTS, which would place the car in the mid 1970s (1974+) at least.

Very tempted to get this Domino's covered hopper as it fits my primary era (1976). What's holding me back is that I think these still come with truck mounted couplers which is a disincentive to me on a $35 car ... gotta think on this.

I was hoping to get more info on the car as well. I've heard it might NOT have been a Baltimore car. I don't think that's going to stop me though.

I'm actually kinda tempted to get a couple and renumber them, TBH. Domino is an iconic Baltimore shipper, after all.

Just cut the couplers off the trucks and body-mount them to the platforms, then swap in BLMA 100-ton trucks.  That keeps the model at the correct height, "lowers" the body closer to the trucks and leaves the couplers at the correct height.  Plus, it looks much better.

Indeed. And it may be some years before N gets the early phase (current tooling "climate" has slowed things up a bit).
