I designed a large volume speaker case for the rear mounted speaker in a new series Kato SD diesel model. With an ESU 58741 decoder, and a 9x16mm speaker, this assembly fits into the shell after removing the two small inboard bumps at the top rear of the shell. Wiring a small LED and resistor to the solder pads on the rear end of the decoder, the rear light is functional. Run the rear light wires over the speaker. I use Kapton tape to insulate the top plate of the speaker. The LED drops into the end cavity with plenty of clearance. Change the light settings in the CVs to activate the rear light AUX circuit, and deactivate the on-board rear LED. The speaker is mounted so the contact pads are opposite the rear of the decoder to prevent shorts. Cut the speaker wires to fit with just a bit of slack, The front on-board LED funnels light to the plastic light pipe, so no extra front LED is needed.
The speaker backcase .stl file is available at:

The two ports are just visible in the center of the case. These allow air access to the extra volume.
