Not sure where this belongs. Or if it does at all. But I thought folks might like to see the tribute Eldon's children had made.
His daughter just shared it on Facebook.

Wow, 2 years have already passed!  I do miss him. He was a great asset to this hobby!

Thank you for posting this.
I spoke through email with him many many times over the years, sometimes with exchanges that went on for a week, but never in person.  I always got the clear feeling from the way he talked about his children and his family that they were all close and loved him dearly.

Yeah.   And when I ordered from him, there were always 'extras' in the box, more sleeve tubing, once an entire gearhead, something useful.

Just got this in an email:

FINALLY---and specifically for the model railroaders, master model builders, DCC, and remotoring folks....... Many of you may remember Eldon "The Motorman" Shirey. He operated a huge small motor business online through Ebay called "Micro-Loco-Motion." and sold thousands of motors to us modelers, in all scales, who needed to repower both brass and plastic locos, or needed motors to power other scenes on our layouts. He also sold to those in the model car, airplane, and boat fields, among others. Our firm may have kept him in business alone, as we were always buying thngs to fix our own locos, as well as those of customers. Sadly, Eldon passed a few years ago. Speaking with a friend of ours, and lamenting how much we missed being able to buy from Eldon, he told us that Eldon's daughter still had some motors and she'd like to sell them. We figured it might be a few dozen or couple hundred, but no! TRY OVER 15,000 MOTORS!!! So, later this summer and fall of 2025, we have volunteered to help Eldon's family sell off the remaining motors in a series of 2-3 auctions! Most of these retail at $10-$50 each, but we will make lots, with each motor staring at $1 (so...10 motors in a lot will have a starting bid of $10). We know there will be a strong interest from the model railroad community, and encourage you to share this announcement with your club, members, and railroad friends! Thanks for posting, that's very helpful for tracking down motors and gearheads now that his extra supply is going to be auctioned off.
