Those Dash-9's are nothing short of fantastic!!  8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

This being TRW:  Is there anyone crazy enough to try out a proto-level weathering job on them?  :ashat: :D

Crazy enough, yes.   Crazy enough with my current skill level, probably not.   I need to find a cheap SWB model to practice on.   I do have an extra SD75M shell that will probably be my first real test subject, eventually.

Which begs the question....anyone have a good online reference/video about weathering ATSF SWB locos?  Preferably modern but even an F7 should have similar qualities.

Oh man.  Even just 2 years ago I would have been all over the Dash 9's.  It's been a 10 year wait!

But I sold half my stuff to Ed and need to post the rest sometime.  LOL.

A plastic Dash 9 is now a reality in Z.

I'm very close to having a roster now in Z that compares to what I had in N during the mid-2000s.    Trinity 5161's are badly needed, and unit coal cars are a challenge.    There isn't the variety of freight cars yet but the era I model is about as good as it gets in Z.  Also plenty of compromise solutions, stand-ins, etc.   3D printing can solve a lot of the problems, but things like the 5161's really benefit from having etched details.

Anyway, just had to share.  Now I need to find a different job so that I can actually have time to build a layout.
