Steamer Part

Anyone know what this is or from?  It is 7/16" long.  The left side is flat and has a slot, probably how it was attached. Found it in my cradle but don't have any idea how long it has been there.

Is it a power reverser? Shown here above the wheels? Its a single steam cylinder that moves the reversing gear forwards and back.

  That's what I thought also .  I'd need to see the front side to be sure . It should go on the right side of the loco somewhere between the cab and midway down the running board depending on the loco.   Mike

Could it be the screw feeder* from the back of the tender?

* forget the correct term.

Stoker. It is like an auger at the bottom of the tender that feeds coal into the loco. Sometimes in the center top of the tender deck is the drive for it.

That's usually molded as part of the slope sheet (or whatever its called) whereas the power reverser is often a separate piece that presses into the boiler.

I was just thinking upside down in a cradle. The tender thing would pop off.

The cylinder does look like a power reverser, just wondering about the rest hanging off.

LOL the item I was thinking of on the tender is not the stoker. It's called a coal pusher  :facepalm:

This is a PRR style Power Reverser having a bell crank lever at the end, does it look kinda like this on the cylinder end?

I thought a power reverser too but checked all my steamers on the layout.  The walthers heritage pic looks dead on as I pulled that goat out recently and looked it over in the cradle before putting it in the yard. I will check that out when I get out to the FROG later today.  Thanks guys.

You mean it's a stoker-pushing coal reverser?

The ad at the deviant art link read that it was for hand fired locomotives.

Yeah I got the parts mixed up. It is not a stoker, but funny it is made by the Locomotive Stoker Company.
