That's the trustee scheme implemented during the Alpert administration of the railroad.  The model has a May 1965 shop date, which sounds right.  The last new cars painted in the New Image (McGinnis) scheme where the 50' double-door PS-1 boxcars, which were built in November 1956.  The first new cars in the trustee scheme were the 50' plug-door PS-1 boxcars in January 1965, albeit the body color was still red-orange.  Everything shopped (that needed repainting) or leased-back after that was painted freight car red with the all-white block lettering.

You also can search for the InterMountain AAR boxcar as a four-pack of red-orange New Image with the black and white block herald that I think was a Neal's N-Gaugung Trains special run, as well as the black scheme with oversized block herald that was a BLW special run.  Sadly, IM never has released any NH New Image schemes on their 40' models.

You're correct in that undecorated models are hard to come by, but decorated cars can be stripped and repainted.  If you go that vein, note that the lone release of the NYC red/gray Pacemaker AAR model with the etched roofwalk and improved Dreadnaught ends is also appropriate for a New Haven prototype (NH 33000-33499).

Thanks Bryan. I have managed to collect all 4 of the Neal's and 6 of the BLW large herald cars. I also have a ton of the script herald cars (and a few duplicate numbers). I have decals to do 4 more red-orange and 2 black new image cars (or 4 if I change the numbers). I just have to make the decision of which cars to cannibalize for them. I do feel kind of guilty about stripping painted models that are kind of rare. Maybe that'll be hard to justify so long as there is still a chance IM might run new cars eventually and while there is no chance these exclusive cars will be run again.
