Wow, that's interesting.  I wonder how thick the ink is (especially with the CMYK on white)?  It looked pretty good on the container and the hopper car, and seems to handle surface variations pretty well.  Can you print on decal paper for really complex surfaces like the nose of an F unit?

Thickness and the texture were noticeable on everything. But the resolution and clarity were stunning. I was hoping to see lettering on the hopper, although the thickness of especially the white - which is understandable to build-up enough pigment for opacity - is going to yield obvious relief.

Like Ed said, this is a glance into the future. Fixing the white layer is going to require some chemistry magic, but that they have white and gray in their toolbox is leaps and bounds ahead of where we were. They understand.

Looking forward to the 2nd generation of this. Just amazing.

I am wondering about printing things like sheets of scale-sized bricks with the "white" mortar as a first layer and the red bricks or gray stones as the top layer.

Maybe even print from a photo of a real wall?
