Plate C Model Prototypes has announced a 3D printed car kit in HO for the Western Maryland F-11 Well Hole Flatcar.  The company is run by one of my co-workers at Mainline Hobby Supply.  This is his first freight car kit he's released, with all previously announced items being various detail parts in HO scale.

His website can be found at https://platecmp.com/

We have had discussions about trying one in n scale but he is concerned about it being too light running empty.

Well the one from ESM seems to run just fine . . .
I might consider a N scale one if it comes with those snazzy decals

The ESM car has die-cast well and underframe.  The Plate C car is completely 3D printed so he needs to figure out a way to get weight into it

Just print it with DU!

You would have to design the model to have a brass or cast base, similar to the ESM car. You can 3D print the base part and have it molded/cast. @Sokramiketes Mike had a brass flatcar rendered in this fashion a few years back.

As long as the model’s center of gravity is below the coupler height, it doesn’t matter how light the model is.
