I haven't been able to find any info online on how to do this, but is it possible to change the sound function so that the bell doesn't turn on whenever the horn is pressed?

As a related question does anyone know how to reprogram a 1:1 GE ES44AC so the bell doesn't turn on with the horn?  :trollface:

The following is a typical arrangement for ESU V5 Sound files (if your loco is equipped with an ESU V5)....

To turn the feature OFF - Auto Bell OFF:

1. Remove the Auto bell sound slot from the function mapping chart
CV31 = 16, CV32 = 8
----------------------
CV311 = 4

Be sure to do CV31 and CV32 first as these are index CV's.

How do you access cv311 with the DCS-51?

I don't have a DCS-51, but I found this manual online...

https://www.digitrax.com/media/apps/products/command-stations-boosters/dcs51/documents/Zephyr_Xtra_rev.2_x743wQ9.pdf

Page 29 appears to cover reading and changing CV's.

Once again, don't forget to change the indexing CV's first. It's would also be a good idea to read all 3 CV's first and jot the values down in the event something goes awry and you need to restore the original settings.

You should see the size of the decoder!

??

Looks like a standard decoder with Next18 connector (according to Spookshow).

Ahhhh, Peter … the boys were suggesting, tongue-in-cheek, that perhaps the prototype uses an ESU decoder to enable the autobell-with-horn feature!
