That is a very nice car.

Just curious, does it weigh enough to run unloaded?

The car is mostly white metal. I didn't weigh it to see if it was within NMRA specs, but they have some weight to them and the logs are hollow plastic that really have little weight to them. Since these are a commissioned build I don't have the completed car to weigh it. I don't think the weigh of the logs would make much difference.

I spent some time over the holidays updating some of the 5 Mile RR website. My HTML coding is not perfect and I still run into some website issues, but it works for me. I added reference maps and more "Area News" articles.

Accomplishments last year: The truss bridge is complete, although I plan to change out the trestle bents at some point. But the bridge is set and the Shay can make it everywhere (4 years later) on the layout now. The other loco's not so much yet. The Shays are so forgiving! The track is all hardwired. Many of the redwoods are now set. I decided on what structures will be in Occidental and need to work on dimensions for each.

Brings me back to my pre-teens when I traveled all over northern CA with my family to visit my grandparents and uncle and aunt.  My uncle is also a train fan so we went railfanning everywhere.  Including Occidental!

The growth on the love is really well done. How’d you accomplish that?

If you are referring to the debris on the logs, it a blended mix of ground and sifted Black Gold potting soil, Woodland Scenics fine turf, and underbrush.
