Evanston is such a small town , what a great turnout .

It's a pretty quick jaunt over the hill from SLC and Ogden. The venue - a converted roundhouse - is very nice, and UP's mainline is right outside. It's a bit of a magic convergence that makes it worth the trip for a train show.

Evanston was #2 on our list of towns to retire to, only nixed due to the brutal winters.

Yeah, we had a train show there first weekend of August. I hadn't heard a thing about the Free-moN gathering until today.

I think that with the large standalone building for a train layout, Mike doesn't need a basement.  He made out ok.

I really have to admit I love a good sound unit in a steam locomotive.

That was Friday afternoon.

I really enjoyed taking pictures of this locomotive when it came through central Illinois several times on the NS.  The corn is nice and we have millions of acres that look like that in Illinois.

Yes it was a private pay to play event.
