N Scale in Charlotte, NC?

My son and I are in town for the NASCAR races this weekend.  Any good local hobby shops with N scale?  Thanks!!

Well, since you'll actually be in Concord, North Carolina for the race, you can jump on I-85 North and run about thirty miles up to Spencer to the Little Choo Choo Shop, which is conveniently located directly across the street from the North Carolina Transportation Museum.

I use to go to them and watch every weekend but in the past ten years or pretty much since the COT I lost interest. Now it's just becoming 200mph advertising. Too much whinny baby crap for me. I'll stick to trains and my own mountain biking for fast down hill entertainment and hope i don't break my neck.

Fortunate to be blessed with an abundance of local short tracks. Currently JFRT waiting on time to go watch them sling some dirt tonight.

Had a great weekend in Charlotte.  Unfortunately Choo Choos was closed Sunday and Monday but we did spend the morning at the NC Transportation Museum.  Very nice.

The Truck and Xfinity races were much more entertaining but still great to be at the track for the Cup race.

Hey, I kind of really liked the race (see previous 'go Larson' remark from earlier). The COT is done after this year. The car or the day after tomorrow is coming out (officially called the Next Gen) and supposed to make the playing field VERY level, or as Nascar put it 'putting the "stock" back in stock car'. Composite bodies that actually look like the car it's supposed to be and CANNOT BE CHANGED (so wind tunnel time won't make any difference) even a little bit. Independent rear suspension, single lug tires like indy cars (which I personally don't like...cars have lug nuts), and a bunch of 'spec' parts to make it cheaper to race. No more short track, super speedway, road track specialized cars...all cars will be pretty much the same under the body. It's going to be 'the best driver will win' (hopefully). It will be interesting to see what happens...

The car of tomorrow was the one with the huge front splitter and the big, ugly wing on the back. 
Those cars have been gone since about 2012, I think, thank the lord.

Speaking of Kyle, pretty amazing winning the 600 and then the World of Outlaws feature the following day.
That was my first exposure to him was when my Dad was the GM at a short track in NorCal, I’d seen Kyle race on dirt.
