Bowser NH N5

 NH never had cabooses in this color, did they? Is the model a foobie?

But did the New Haven have any N5 cabooses at all? I know they had NE5s and NE6s, but I didn't know they had any N5s and I can't find a record that they did, although I didn't look for very long. The B&M had N5s, but I think those were the only ones in New England.

A Pennsylvania N5 and a New Haven NE2 are nearly identical.  The roads shared design concepts, probably due to their close operational relationship on Washington-Boston traffic and their joint ownership of the New York Connecting Railroad (the Hellgate Bridge segment).  Minor differences in the step design and truck type, I think that's it.  New Haven had six of the design, and it was their first steel caboose.

For the NH NE2, the I-beam collision posts on the car ends that were added by the PRR to their cabins should be removed from the Bowser model.

Heh.  That's a pic of my model on Spookshow's site.  The Precision Scale model didn't come with window glass (or come weathered) and I updated the decals.  Also, those are FVM leafspring trucks with ESM wheels.

Yes, I thought caboose red also, never that color on the the model. You guys also touched on my possible next question.
  Differences between N5 and NE5. I did look at the FF site, there were a few not so good pics for the # series of Bowser model.
  But stenciling on car sides said NE5. Guess I should order the Morning Sun book I saw on Rons Books, and look through my
  older NH calendars. Then to order a close color match paint, and some decals. Thanks for the tip on crash bars Doug.

The color is standard Caboose Red.  Also note that on the cupola only the roof is black and the cupola sides/ends are Caboose Red.  You also need either friction-bearing leafspring trucks (Atlas, FVM, Bluford) or BX-express trucks (MTL).  The T-Frame trucks are not prototypical for NH.

Bryan, as I was taking caboose apart, I did notice the trucks didn't seem right for a caboose.

Does anybody make the correct NH steps for this caboose? It looks like just some GM stirrups would work for the stackless end, but they are more complicated on the other platform.
