It is not that it falls short of my standards, it is simply the wrong procedure to use for reversed motor leads.  Direction bit in CV29 is meant to reverse the direction of the entire locomotive (like when some railroads run diesels long-hood-forward).  That's all.

Sure, you can change CV29, then futz around with few more CVs to reverse both headlights,  but is that really a good solution?  Next time your decoder "blows its brains out" (which does happen) and has to be reset to factory defaults, you'll be surprised that suddenly the loco is not running correctly.

Hey, if you consider it to be a good solution, all the power to you.  But I felt compelled to mention that it does not work as most people think about it. Is that ok with you?

It must be so hard to save your configuration file in JMRI these days...

It works, it may not be elegant, but it works.

I was able to trim a small strip of phosphor bronze and add it to the bottom motor tab and everything seemed to work fine. I made sure the motor was oriented correctly before removing the stock lightboard and adding the decoder. It's being broken in (or re-broken-in) on the roundy-round track as I write this. Thanks of all the support!

I specifically stated "Changing CV29 will not fix the problem."  Look at my original post. That is true, and accurate.  You agreed, and added that few more CVs have to be futzed with to make that "solution" work.  Sure, JMRI can save decoder's settings, but some people do not use it.  I will reiterate that the direction bit in CV29 is not meant or designed for reversing just the motor's direction.  This is all factual and accurate information.
