So I have a bit of an update on the trucks for the LRCs. Rapido sent me replacement trucks and I wound up with two that roll really well. And two that are bricks.

I emailed again and they sent me another two pairs of trucks. These ones were slightly damaged during shipping and didn’t help things.

So I’ve emailed them again. This time, at my request, they are sending me four pairs in hopes that I get two that roll well. And they have agreed to be sure they are packed properly in box instead of a bubble mailer.

So far they’ve been really responsive. They also offered for me to mail them in or drop them off and they would work on them but I’m going to try new trucks one more time.

I also found a post on a FB group where a fellow claims to have fixed 45 of them by removing the wheels, carefully filing off mold separation lines that are causing friction on the wheel backs, re-gauging if needed, and then reassembling.

Here is the link. If the new replacements don’t help then I will follow this tutorial. It was probably the answer in the first place.

The new trucks arrived. All of my cars are rolling nice and smooth now. It took some time but Rapido was responsive and eager to help the whole way through.

Question for all y'all who have these cars, how many can you tow? And with what engine?

I'm using a Kato F40PH and I can barely tow 2 LRCs and 3 Kato Amfleets on flat track and the engine is slipping already....This is after doing the wheel bearing and sideframe mods.

I'm using a Kato F40PH and I can barely tow 2 LRCs and 3 Kato Amfleets on flat track and the engine is slipping already....This is after doing the wheel bearing and sideframe mods.

Once I switched out the trucks and had all of my cars rolling nicely, my Atlas B36-7 can pull 4 cars with no change in performance on 15” uni-track curves vs straight. I don’t have any more to add so I don’t know if it could more.

Before the fix, it struggled with two on straights and stalled in the corner.
