Gunderson MAXI-I Sets – BNSF (herald)

For September, we have BNSF MAXI sets with the ‘herald’ logo. We are offering the sets both with containers and without. The -1 and -2 sets are being offered with MSC 40’ containers. Sets -3 and -4 are being offered with Matson 40’ containers.

Supplies of the cars with containers are limited.

The cars feature metal chassis with etched metal details and add-on parts. The cars also feature AZL’s Auto-Latch couplers and roller bearing trucks. The packaging includes slots for ten 40’ containers.

Yes!  BNSF circle cross Maxi-1's are perfect.  Been waiting through a lot of other releases first!

I assume traditional TTX (not new logo) will be soon as well.  Hope it's not back to back months for wallet's sake.

YESSSSS!!!!  From the git-go I was really hoping that the BNSF Circle Cross logo was not going to be overlooked.  I've pushed my era out from early-mid-2000's to late-mid-2000's to allow early days of Swoosh up to just past the arrival of the SD70ACes.   But the Circle Cross logo would still be the prevalent scheme, especially for the Maxi-I's that didn't get the Swoosh until late 2006 I believe.

I assume traditional TTX (not new logo) will be soon as well.  Hope it's not back to back months for wallet's sake.

I'm afraid that might be exactly the case, unless they push it out a month or something.  I can't think of any other schemes they haven't done.  (assuming they aren't doing patched Maersk, Railbridge, et al)    So yeah, likely going to be a pricey 30 days.

For my international stack train, I figure one BNSF and two TTX plain are needed.  That retires a big group of MTL Husky Stacks which really weren't prevalent anymore in my era.

Well, I decided to go full-on Z in part because of your post about the "Spud Local" https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=17535.0 some years back.  So our BNSF love fest has been years in the making.   

Don't go full fire sale on the Huskies...some of them lasted longer than you might think.  For sure the drawbar versions hung around well past our era.  Some of the former-BN-patched-BNSF 3-unit drawbar cars were still around fairly recently...not sure if they still aren't.

I have a relatively conservative collection of Huskies so I got a pretty good stable of Maxi-I's...one TTX-patched TT/SP (work in progress), one BNSF swoosh, two BNSF circle, and hope to pick up two of the TTX.   They will form parts of two or three different trains.  Eventually might also get a Maersk to patch BNSF as well, but it's not as much of a priority and if I don't end up being able to get one I won't lose too much sleep.  If I manage to build a layout that "suffers" from a dearth of Maxi-I's, that will be a good problem to have.

And agreed on the Husky's.  I'll keep the five unit set I articulated (carved ends of MTL cars) and a three unit draw barred set (BN patched to BNSF).  But the train was 90% husky and 10% other.  Now the huskys can be the rarities.  I printed some 40' thrall singles, which with the Maxi-I's will get me in the ball park here.
