I also have one of his school buses.  It's been retired, replaced with a Wheels Of Time model.  Speaking of which, is WOT still in business?  Their website is still up, but there's no recent news.

He was really the first to offer any sort of cast vehicle options that weren't European of those Walters solid cast trucks.  I still have one of his fire engines.

The only Burt Industries models I purchased were a couple of farm tractors and a hay baler.  The tractors were supposed to be Fords, but one looked more like a Massey Ferguson, and the other had a slight resemblance to an IH.  The hay baler however, looked a lot like John Deere.

Back to the CMW lowboy trailers.  I did some work on removing the artifacts, and sprayed one of the trailers with some automotive primer from a rattle can.  I figured a thick coat of paint would be better than a thin coat of paint.   

The left side shown the first photo below did not get much cleanup.  The right side shown in the second photo got a lot more filing and scraping, but still could use some more work.





I am thinking maybe with some extensive weathering the trailer can be used as a background model.

I think that's basically where they're going to end up.  Hopefully the next new product will be better executed.  The IDEA isn't bad, but 3D printing just isn't quite ready for N scale ready-to-run mass production.

And I hope they put the right size wheels on the next run of tractors.

That brings back some memories.  He had quite a range of models, all very poor quality. But he did produce items not available elsewhere at the time.  I think I bought some sort of crane from him, but it has been dispatched to the dump some time ago.

If you wanted an N scale M60A2 tank, he was your guy!
