Different horns on factory Atlas sound locos

Hello everyone.
I recently got bit by the sound bug and picked up a pair of Atlas GP28-2s with sound. After looking around on JMRI I found the way to change the horn sounds. I'm fairly confident I have the correct horns selected for the prototypes. My question is, is there a table somewhere that identifies the names of the different selections of horns bells and prime mover sounds somewhere?
Your layouts nice, but it needs more Conrail !

You need to know which sound project is loaded into the decoder (I'm assuming these are equipped with the ESU LokSound Select Direct Micro boards).   Unless you have been provided information on what sound project you have, you have to "sneak" into the info with Decoder Pro (and make sure you have at least the latest production release)

Go to the roster file for your loco (Program on Programming Track), and then navigate to the Information tab.  Do a "read sheet";  on the right hand side, after a while, a project name will appear.

Now, go to the ESU Sound Projects page:  http://projects.esu.eu/  , and search in the LokSound Select Retail Sound files, or LokSound North American & Australian Factory Equipped Sound files sections for the name of the project (hint, do an initial search for GP38-2 to limit the choices).  When you find the matching name, expand the entry and look in the "bulletin".  It will give you a list of all the horns (and CV48 setting) included in that project.

It would sure simplify matters if Atlas would just include the bulletin with any of their sound equipped locos (or at least make it available on line)

Not really because it's all down to the railroad (and time period, and what the shops were doing at the time).

Which engines did you get?

I swapped the shells for ones I already had and sold the factory shells that came with them. Both engines are Norfolk Southern. For the Ex Conrail unit I chose what sounded like an RS3L and for the Ex Southern high nose I chose what sounds like a P5. I conferred with a couple of friends who are better with horns than I. Both agreed the horns I selected sounded like the proper horns for those units. I'm mostly just curious what all is preloaded on the decoder for future reference and possibly to help other club members get their engines to sound right.

I think the JMRI definitions have a pretty good mapping. I know when I set my SD40-2s to use RS3Ls all I had to do was select them from a dropdown.

The LokSound Select diesel sound files usually have 16 horn choices.  The horns are selected by changing the value of CV48.  If you know what sound file you have in your engines, you can go to LokSound's web site and see what horns are available by searching for the sound file.  Here is the table for a typical EMD567 prime mover file:

CV48=0 Leslie A200 #1
CV48=1 Nathan K3L
CV48=2 Nathan M5
CV48=3 Nathan P3
CV48=4 Nathan Old Cast P5
CV48=5 Nathan K3HA
CV48=6 Leslie S3L #1
CV48=7 Leslie RS5T
CV48=8 Leslie A125
CV48=9 Nathan M3
CV48=10 Leslie RS3K
CV48=11 Nathan K5H
CV48=12 Leslie S2M
CV48=13 Nathan M3H
CV48=14 Leslie S3E
CV48=15 Leslie S5TRF
