Rumours have been around for a month or two now that WNY&Ps M636s are on the way out and Trains magazine is now running the story that they will be replaced by 8 x ex CSX AC46CWs. 2 will be for spare parts and shipped in June. The locos will be prepared at the A&M workshops in Springdale and shipped between June and August. The six axle Centuries will be stored serviceable. Four axle Alco power is “performing well” and isn’t affected.
Back in October 2017 a trio of M636s smoke it up through Port Allegany, PA, with the southbound Driftwood turn.
