Keystone Details announces drop-in PRR cylinders for Minitrix K4 Locos

Just clean, paint and install these N Scale PRR style drop in replacement cylinders for your venerable Minitrix K4 locomotive for a more prototypical look.  Just snip off the excess rod that protrudes from the current cylinders and file off any burrs.

On the subject of cylinders. I've asked this many times and can never get an answer.  I'll ask here.  What are the two round plates that have sort of a spoke shape to them. They are located just above the cylinder valve, center of it on both sides. I've seen photos where there is a tad bit of steam coming from them.  This is on most Pennsy engines and are on the K4 cylinders as above.

I have seen the spoked covers on several Japanese prototype locos too. And many European locos have similar covers, just not with the spoke pattern.  I assume it is an access cover for ether clean-outs or adjustment.  I'll be curious myself.
