Tamiya Panel Line accent color

I've really enjoyed using this product, especially for helping define 'depth' on details that are molded onto the surface. Carefully applied, they can actually be very subtle (They can be 'over applied' so care must be taken)
I regularly use the black color for rooftop fans, vents, and side body grills...

Here applied to Atlas Dash8-40BWs...(and 8-40B)

and here on an Athearn FP45

Very useful hint Bruce - these are used extensively by the model automobile and military modelers.

Tamiya makes good stuff. I collect there TA series RC road chassis and used to built there military models. There early 90s 1/350 Enterprise was one of my favorite platic models to built and it still sits in my living room due to its awsomeness.

So what is the application process for this?  "Just paint it on lightly"?

the bottle is the exact size of the Tamiya extra thin cement  (green cap) and has the same thin applicator brush in the cap. Simply touch the tip of the brush to a panel line or depressed area and the color flows along/into it.
four colors available: Black, Dark Brown, Brown (rust color), and gray. It was developed for aircraft and armor models, but, obviously, has many applications and  works on any painted surface

I've been using this stuff for a while. I find it works better if you use a 000 brush rather than the applicator that comes in the cap. If you work it right, capillary action with draw the panel line accent colour into recesses and gaps between panels. It's great for popping out fan detail in radiator grilles and accenting car-body air filters. Allow it to dry then clean up with enamel thinner. I found there was a bit of a learning curve, so practise an scrap items. But once you get the hang of it, you'll find all sorts of uses for it. Works better on painted surfaces rather than bare plastic. I suppose if you apply a flat clear coat on bare plastic first the results will be better.

It's like weathering....there is no wrong way to do it.
