Rapido — new release of Osgood Bradleys IN STOCK, including CN!

It’s a road-specific passenger car that is a signature car for the railroad in question. For prototype New Haven modelers, this is a must-have car and $50 is not at all unreasonable. It would cost far more to kitbash/scratchbuild this car. And if none of the remaining variants are produced, it is far less expensive to kitbash them from the Rapido model than to scratchbuild or kitbash via other means.

Very few if any N scale New Haven modelers are complaining about the cost of these cars, or the FL-9, or the Osgood Bradleys. We are very thankful that Rapido took a chance on them and continues to mine New Haven prototypes for projects.

Oops, my comments are in reference to the 8600 model. But the same thing applies to the Bradleys.

I enjoy my F40, RDC and 8600s in HO immensely. Yes they were expensive. However when I saw them in person I was sold.. my modeling efforts could never come close, and most diy pieces I have seen pale in comparison of detail and build quality. What they need to do is release some BM, MEC, DH, Guilford and more MBTA  prototypes  . How about the MBTA Horizon/Comet cars? A couple of roads had/have them. However if you can roll your own then certainly more power to you.

I went into PRR N scale passenger trains way back when because there was hardly any prototypes in the retail market, and I looked forward to kitbashing or using car sides to make my trains. Then along came KATO with the BL, MTL heavyweights, Lemostream's details, a K-4!! and even a R50b model for crissake. No challenge anymore.
So I picked the NH because I thought who'd be nuts enough to make specialized passenger cars used basically by only one railroad? Or if so, do more than one type car? And a 5-axle diesel? Are you kidding me? Be grateful there was a DL109 model!! THIS was the railroad challenge to make prototypes. Wrong again.  Christ, there's even a Clejan flat model...
So now I'm just waiting for the MTL single-window coaches to rub it in. And I suppose for a coup-de-grace the Rapido NH parlor-lounge streamlined. Oh, it'll happen. And hey, Hit me with some NE-5s AND -6s, while you're at it.
And obviously, somewhere down the line, Atlas will turn out an FA1 with DCC and sound, meticulously striped in the NH paint. Because I already paid to have a LL one decodered and sounded. I swear if somebody ever makes kits for their weird little 40' TOFCs -- nah, never happen.
 I'm not changing railroads again. I like large pass operations, and the only NE RR left to self-build a fleet from WAS the NYC. Their TCL will no doubt signal the beginning of a flood of production models of NYC prototypes.
I'm obviously being sarcastic here. I actually was hoping once Rapido brought out their HO OsgoodBradleys I could get at least one proto car in N. No idea there would be a flood of the correct cars of all types. I always like to bitch to HO guys they don't really have to work at it, they can just go out and buy their  pre-made models from the gazillions of HO stuff. Could it be N scale is on the road to the same "fate"?

I'm not complaining.  Still plenty of highly prominent and needed NH prototypes to scratchbuild/kitbash, so I'm grateful for any prototypical models that come to market.

There was some discussion about this in several threads just before and after the first release of OB cars by Rapido. Here's one (although original subject was Texas Special- an interesting bit of thread drift)-https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=45247.msg585907#msg585907

Here is a shot of one, note the California Almond Growers Exchange building to the left.  Not sure
 where that particular building is/was, but quick internet search shows the Exchange HQ located in Sacramento. 

So I think the gist is that SSW ordered 10 coaches that went on to serve the SP system for several decades.  As with the CN paint job, in this case, Rapido is being VERY upfront about what they are doing, which is to say, painting a NH prototype car in paint schemes of other roads that had something "similar".  Whether they are "close enough" is a decision for the modeler.
