yeah, I noticed that and was going to bring that up here.

Kato doesn't do anything without a reason.

With Green Max doing the Plasser machines perhaps this could be real.

A grinding machine  / track cleaner might be cool....   :D

I Tweeted a question on this  to them.

 :|  Tomix once offered a real Rail Grinder, self propelled Japanese rail car. BLW sold them I almost considered buying one, it would have been interesting to see the sparks fly, but then I thought about what this might be doing to the track. It had grinding wheels, or stones of some sort.  No it did not resemble a prototype rail grinder, just a Japanese Power Car (used on passenger trains. Nate Goodman (Nato).  :|

If the N scale rails were steel then the sparks would fly. I don't think nickel-silver would spark when being ground.
Could it have been the rail cleaning/grinding car (same as Tomix vacuum/grinding car that Atlas sells relabeled as theirs)?  But that one is not self-propelled.  There are other such cars which can use grinding (sandpaper). Fleischmann is one that comes to mind.
