sacre bleu! More TLT newsprint car problems

Shouldn't these cars have the French "Canadien National" on one side? Several of my cars have English on both sides. This is the all red car with the large noodle logo.

Was there any rhyme or reason to witch side got the "Canadien"? If looking at the side of the car, would the brake wheel be on the left or right?

I have one CN and I'm pretty sure it's bilingual, but I would have to check.  I also have a pair of CV of which that isn't an issue.

Pictures of these cars in reference books suggest yes they should be bilingual.  Inexcusable if they have messed that up.

I just checked the cars I have. Every solid boxcar red noodle from the first run has English on both sides.

So a few questions.... What side should have the French name? Any good color matches for the paint out there?

It does look like they fixed the issue with the second run of cars that feature a yellow door. But they managed to mangle the truck screws.

I thought I had a CN car, but I don’t, so I can’t verify one way or the other. I have just the two CV cars.

A review of photographs in reference books suggests that with the 'B' end to the rear, the normal practice was CANADIAN NATIONAL on the left side of the car and CANADIEN NATIONAL on the right side, but there are exceptions.  Best to check photographs of the series you wish to model.

I remember that thread but couldn't find it. Thanks.

I mixed some paint to cover the incorrect "Canadian" only to discover there re no current decal sets available for CN noodle boxcars like these.

I only have two sets of the old Northeast Decals. Luckily this will cover the two duplicate numbers I have.

I guess I'm just going to have to do without.

Daniel, let me check my stash of Northeast decals tomorrow for you. I might have a set.

Borrow the "CANADIEN" from a Highball Graphics "Website" decal set?

Daniel,
Had a chance to go through my "stash" but no luck. I think your best bet probably
would be the Highball Graphics idea mentioned above or this set as well for the 40' grain boxcars.

There's even a couple of sets from Micro Scale that may even work.

This one is listed out of stock but maybe someone may have it.

Maybe try Black Cat Publishing decals. It looks like he has a noodle set for a 40 foot boxcar, but he is also really responsive to requests. And I think the quality of his product is second to none.
