C44-9. Which Kato N scale truck is correct?

Hello all.

I'm modelling a BCR C44-9cw and C44-9w in N scale. I'm starting with the Kato C44-9.

Can anyone tell me if this is an early or late GE HiAd truck? I see reference to both on Kato's parts website.

I have the correct shells already, but I'm not sure if I should be looking for a specific run of chassis, or specific road names/ numbers.

Any help would be appreciated.

I believe the top photo is an 'early' and the bottom one is a 'late'.  The differences are pretty minor but one of them is the way the struts attached to the outside axles angle out and cover over the brake cylinder rods on the 'late.'

They are both late, also make sure you get the late fuel tank with the notch under the brake air tanks.
For reference this is an early unit.

So to clarify, the Kato 'late' truck resembles the bottom photo in the original post.  The Kato 'early' truck resembles the photo sundowner posted, except that the struts are inside the brake rods on the Kato (which may not be completely accurate to any prototype).   The top photo in the original post has some differences from both Kato options, with the frame looking like the Kato 'late' but the struts different and that additional bolster part jutting out in the middle.

Kato's offering two different trucks which are easy to recognize, one has holes, most common one, the other has no holes, early version. The prototype Kato was measuring at the time was a CNW unit with early trucks, with no holes which were wrong for most C44-9s Kato released, until they've introduced the AC4400CWs.
