My family and I took in a short trip to north central Pennsylvania this week. Rail highlights include this battery motor car that shoves four crude coaches 1800' in to a former working mine in Ashland (interestingly 2 miles south of Centralia): [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

Yesterday, we went to Knoebel's Amusement Park. There they had two narrow gauge train rides. This guy operates on the Pioneer Train. I was truly impressed by the length of the ride. This is one of three trainsets on the Pioneer Train and there is also a small work train. Henry Knoebel loved his trains. [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

SFMTA PCC 1060 painted for Philadelphia Transit Company rests at Brookville awaiting transport back west.




Actually, this one has quite the story.  I have the rather dubious honor of being the first Project Manager to have a streetcar come back for warranty work.     That happened in April. 

On its way back to Muni after warranty repair in early May, it was damaged at a truck stop in Laramie WY when another tractor trailer backed into it! 




Let's hope is next westbound trip is uneventful...

Sign in the car's window in the second pix says "Philadelphia 1938 colors".  I'd guess 1938 !

At my new job, we have a spur behind the building where RJ Corman parks their switcher for the industrial park at the end of each day. Earlier this week they had the doors open while I was leaving work.

They also have a few off spot cars right now. I'm not sure if the tagger or railroad did this fix, but it's pretty interesting regardless.
