Not only that, but why is the download 2yr & 3yr sub more than the print?

Is the download version the same as what is done for the 5-yr CD?

When we decided to offer a digital edition, it was in no way to compete with the print edition. There are also charges not only to produce a digital edition, but distribute and maintain.
The download version is available issue by issue, and if you wish to download each issue as you subscribe, you could have as many years as you like as a download.
The 5-year CDs includes all 5-years on one CD, as well as an index for easy searching of articles. I hope this helps answer some of your questions.

My usual procedure is to buy/subscribe to the print, then every 5 years buy the CD and sell/give away the print issues but if the digital download is the same as what shows up on the CD I'd just get the digital version.  Although I'd lose the index.  Maybe you could offer an index file to digital subscribers.  The $11 premium on the digital issue wouldn't stop me but I'll never buy both print and digital via subscripts at $68/yr.  The CD works out to $5/yr (if the price doesn't change).
